Coming this Spring, The Real Mustangs of Ranchito is an immersive, docuseries-style podcast that plunges into the unregulated underbelly of the American horse trade - with a specific focus on the wild mustang. Co-hosted by sisters, Casey and Erin, the investigation begins exactly where our own rescue journey started: the kill pens of Bowie, Texas. But rescuing a horse at the kill pen only treats the symptom. To find the route of the crisis, we are going upstream. We trace the pipeline backward through a hidden network of auction houses and kill buyers, all the way to the open range. Along the way, we unravel the complex politics of government roundups, wild horse management, and how these living icons lose their freedom in the first place.
This isn't just a hard-hitting exposé; it is a raw, unfiltered window into life on the rescue front lines. We bring you with us through the steep learning curves, and the devastating lows, but above all, we share the breathtaking stories of transformation we've witnessed firsthand. This series is ultimately a testament to the profound resilience of the mustang. It is an intimate story of systemic failure, survival, and the relentless hope required to fight for what you love.

Why We podcast
We wanted to create The Real Mustangs of Ranchito because we needed the space to take a deeper dive into the multifaceted world of the American mustang, tracing their journeys after they're rounded up and sent into the human system. By sharing the unpolished truth of this hidden pipeline alongside the incredible stories of resilience we witness every day, we hope to reach far before the equestrian community and make a bigger impact for the horses.
